Our week in Review

Just in case you all were wondering what we have been up to, here are the activities that have taken place at the Baird household. Steve has been working 12 hour plus days and that has really been it for him. I went zip lining over the trees on Saturday with some girlfriends of mine. I am super proud of myself because I am terrified of heights but managed to muster up the courage to complete the course.
It was actually a lot of fun and I would go again. None of the pictures came out clear enough for me to share. Sunday the same girls that flew across the trees with me came over to help keep my office managers twin grand kids that are 9 months old. It was really a circus at my house. We were all worn out but it was fun to take on the challenge. Addison has been a big help to me around the house. We are having a bit of an issue about her stalling bed time. Last night she told me she needed to read the magazine- the People magazine. She also decided that she wanted to wear big girl panties to bed. She drinks a lot of water through the night so I was little hesitant about it but I cut off all liquid around 8pm and made her go to the bathroom twice before bed and the was dry the first night but last night she had an accident so we have decided to hold off a little longer - or at least work on it with a pull up on. Addison also informed me that I am "very white and need to go to the tanning bed." At lest she's honest! Carsyn has been a little stinker this week. She squealed so loud at Ryder on Sunday that it made him cry, she took part of an oatmeal pie from a child that is older than her during snack time at school (the teacher was right there and took it away but not before giving her a little sample) and crawled underneath our china cabinet and got stuck. I was loading the dishwasher and she was crawling around. I honestly didn't think she could get under it but she did and when I raced over to get her she wouldn't turn her head to the side so I could pull her out. I honestly started to panic a little but I got her out she was free of any major injuries. So this is what we have been up to . Steve's work schedule will start to slow a little so I'll have an extra pair of eyes and hands.

Tutus and Tubes

I am so glad last week is over! I can honestly say it has been one of the worst weeks my family has had. Steve has been working 12+ hours a day since the week after Memorial Day and working on the weekends. We found out Tuesday that his grandmother in Indiana was not doing well. She had Alzheimer's and was refusing to eat or drink. Steve himself was having health issues due to the OTC supplement Creatine. After speaking with the doctor I work for I had to call his gym and have him paged over the loud speaker (he wouldn't answer his cell phone) so I could inform him that he COULD NOT continue to work out and needed blood drawn immediately because he was more than likely having muscle breakdown that could ultimately lead to kidney failure. His numbers have normalized and he is able to work out again but I have assured him there will be major a** kicking if he takes this supplement again. Carsyn had her tubes put in and my parents came to help take care of her and Addison and watch Addison's dance recital. The week got worse when we found out on Friday that Steve's grandmother passed away. He left Saturday morning headed to Indiana for her funeral and missed Addison's dance recital. He felt horrible but I told him with my parents here Addison wouldn't even know he was gone. Around 1:00 Sunday morning Carsyn woke up with a fever. It broke with some Tylenol but then returned when we got up Sunday morning. I called the ENT and they called in an antibiotic and wanted to see her Monday if the fever hadn't resolved. Steve wasn't due to fly back in until Monday afternoon and as most of you know I DO NOT STAY BY MYSELF!! I was going to tough it out though and send my parents back to SC until the whole fever thing happened and I was thrilled beyond words when my Mom offered to stay and rent a car to drive herself back the next day- actually it was initially my Dad's idea. OK now that I have gone on and on Addison's recital went really well and she did great. Steve will get to see it when our DVD comes in and Carsyn's ears were fine. They think she must have picked up a upper respiratory virus. She went to day care today and I haven't had any problems out of her except for refusing to wear a bib and wanting to hold her spoon when she eats. Poor Steve - he got in from the airport yesterday around 4 and headed right to work. All of this will be over after June 27 so if he can make it until then and hopefully he gets the jobs that he is working so hard on. As for me I am just trying to hold down the fort and thinking how I have no idea how a single Mom does it everyday. Thank you again Mom and Dad for coming to the rescue!
