The Orb that Fell on Newton's Head

Fall is in full swing and as usual I am behind on posting. I am devoting Carsyn's nap time to try to get caught up instead of folding laundry.  We went apple picking last year for the first time and we had such a good time that we decided to go back again this year.  We went with our really good friends the Shirley's and had a picnic lunch in a pasture - cow patties and all!  The kids really enjoyed it and got into picking and eating the apples this year.  We weren't having to chase them down like last year so it made it very enjoyable for the parents as well.  My favorite apple form this orchard is the Arkansas Black. It is sweet and not as tart as my favorite Granny Smiths.  We picked about 6 pounds of apples and they were all gone within a week.  Apple picking will be on our agenda again next year and we have even talked about doing a combo trip overnight with apple picking one day and the pumpkin patch the next.  Our other fall activities have included going to 2 high school football games. Two of the girls that help coach Addison at gymnastics are cheerleaders and she wanted to go watch the. The second game was Homecoming and one of the girls was on Homecoming court.  Both of the girls really enjoy the games.  They cheer with the band, Addison and her friend Amber yell to Miss Katie and Miss Abigail while they cheer, and they both love watching the team bust through the paper when they come onto the field. Much to my surprise the football games ended up being a pretty good family outing.  We also did our annual trip to Burt's with the neighborhood gang.  We got our usual parking spot in front of the black eyed susans and did our picnic lunch.  Addison decided that she wanted a big pumpkin this year so she found the perfect one and loaded it up- well Steve loaded it up.  Carsyn just enjoyed being able to run around and pick up all the pumpkins. She picked a warty one.  They both got baby pumpkins but Carsyn's started to rot a few days after we went so I had to trash it.  I can't believe that we have been going to Burt's for 7 years. Addison was one when we first went.  We always take a picture in front of the black eyed susans of all the kids and I love looking back at them and seeing how much they have all changed and grown over the years.  I love that we have this tradition and that it is something that we do with all of our neighbors.  It is just nice to spend the day with everyone and take a break from the craziness of life.  We all live right here beside each other but with everything going on sometimes it is hard to get in anything more than a wave when you drive by. Here are the pictures I captured from apple picking, pumpkin patch, and our family fall birthday party.
